Message from Hazel Davalos, SBCAN Board Member and CAUSE Community Organizing Director:

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your support for recycling bins in the Santa Maria City parks. The pilot program continues at 4 parks, Minami, Preisker, Atkinsons and Pioneer. A group of CAUSE youth met with the City Utilities Department and requested that the city change the recycling bins at the parks to be all blue (rather than just the top) so that it'd be easier for park goers to distinguish between recycling and trash bins. The department agreed and is expecting the new blue bins to arrive any day now.

In order to celebrate this progress and also create more visibility for the program the city will be holding a press conference to reveal the new bins. It's important that we have a good crowd there to show support. Please consider joining us if you're available.

Please let me know if you can make it or if you have any questions.

See you then,

Hazel Davalos
