Act now to phase out oil production in Santa Barbara County!
2013 County Oil & Gas Production Field and Wells
Santa Barbara County Action Network has always opposed new oil and gas development in our county. When the County's Climate Action Plan came before the Board of Supervisors, SBCAN and others advocated that emissions from oil and gas production be included in the inventory.
Although the Board did not vote to include those emissions, it did direct staff to return with information about how to phase out all oil facilities in the County to protect our health, environment and climate. The staff's response is on the Board's agenda for Tuesday, May 13. It is the last item on the agenda (#8), so likely to come up in the afternoon, but could come up earlier.
SBCAN urges you to send an email to
[email protected] by 5 p.m. on Monday, or to go to the meeting on Tuesday to speak, urging the Board to direct staff to return with an oil and gas phase-out ordinance.
