We’ll be planting winter vegetables in the Edible Landscaping Demonstration Garden at 910 S. Oakwood Drive (behind the Mussell Senior Center). We’ll do some weeding, too. It’ll all be fun because we are a fun-loving group, and we want to share our merriment with you!

We’ve been having these occasional days in the garden for months, but we haven’t had a regular schedule – until now! We’ve decided the first Sunday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon will be our regular day at the garden. (Other days will be added as needed.)

We’ll start each fun day by sitting in a circle (bring a chair) and sharing food and drink (bring that, too, if you want) while we talk about what will happen that day. Then we’ll spend some time gardening! Finally, we’ll sit back down to talk about how it went and what’s next.

We’re doing this because we want to encourage local residents to grow their own organic, delicious food, and to share our bounty with members of the community. We want to encourage children (and their parents) to enjoy fresh vegetables while they connect with the source of their food. And did I mention it's fun?

Bring your kids, too. We’ve had children as young as three years old help out, and we’ve had high school and college students as well young adults, middle aged adults, and some who are a bit older. This is a multi-generational, multicultural effort.

We hope to see you Sunday. Reservations are not necessary, but if you think you’ll make it, please let me know. (It makes me feel good to know people are coming.) Or if you have questions, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. And check us out (and “like” us) on Facebook:www.facebook.com/CentralCoastGreenTeam.
