The Workforce Housing Study and its implications for the future will be presented by Lucille Boss who is the Housing Programs Manager for the County of Santa Barbara. Lucille helped coordinate the recently completed study, which comprehensively provides data on the housing needs of the workforce and makes a number of recommendation for solutions. We'll follow her presentation with an opportunity to brainstorm about priorities for community action throughout the county to promote affordable housing.

ONGOING ISSUES

Act now to phase out oil production in Santa Barbara County!

North_County_Oil_Map1000px.jpg2013 County Oil & Gas Production Field and Wells

Santa Barbara County Action Network has always opposed new oil and gas development in our county. When the County's Climate Action Plan came before the Board of Supervisors, SBCAN and others advocated that emissions from oil and gas production be included in the inventory.

Although the Board did not vote to include those emissions, it did direct staff to return with information about how to phase out all oil facilities in the County to protect our health, environment and climate. The staff's response is on the Board's agenda for Tuesday, May 13. It is the last item on the agenda (#8), so likely to come up in the afternoon, but could come up earlier.

SBCAN urges you to send an email to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Monday, or to go to the meeting on Tuesday to speak, urging the Board to direct staff to return with an oil and gas phase-out ordinance.

Protect Santa Barbara Creeks with Stronger Buffer Protections

Please join SBCAN in signing and distributing this petition to urge the City of Santa Barbara to protect our environment and neighborhoods from flooding, erosion, and pollution by demanding strong creek buffers for our creeks.
