In line with our mission to promote social justice and protect the environment, SBCAN in partnership with the Santa Barbara Independent--is sponsoring a program to support research and reporting on environmental and social justice issues. 

The Mickey Flacks Journalism Fund was founded in 2020 to ensure that reporting on social justice issues including environmental and housing, were not lost while our revenues were severely impacted by the pandemic. This fund gives readers and funders an opportunity to put money directly into growing reporting on these issues in Santa Barbara County. Since 2020, multiple reporters have covered countless issues including oil and housing funded through the Journalism Fund.

Your tax-deductible donations to the SBCAN Mickey Flacks Journalism Fund will help ensure that these issues will continue to be researched and reported on in the Santa Barbara region, even while print media around the country is shrinking.
