A message from our friends at CAUSE:

Hi Friend,

No matter our income or background, our lives should never be sacrificed for corporate greed and billionaire tax breaks – especially at the cost of gutting lifesaving services while ramping up ICE activity that terrorizes our communities.

Last week, the House advanced Trump’s cruel budget – aiming to slash healthcare, food aid, and education while giving massive tax breaks to the ultra-rich and ramping up anti-immigrant policies that spread fear across our communities.

The fight is on, and we need you – Sign up for the We Are CA Teach-In on March 11: Trump’s “Billionaires First” Budget Plan and How We Fight Back.

Let’s be clear: a budget isn’t just numbers on a page – lives are at stake.People will die, children will go hungry, and families will suffer – all so billionaires can get even richer. In just our two local Congressional Districts represented by Julia Brownley and Salud Carbajal, nearly half a million people – one in three residents – count on MediCal, and could have their lifesaving healthcare slashed by this budget.

Trump, Musk, and their MAGA followers in Congress want us to feel powerless – but they’re wrong. Together, we hold the power. Fired federal workers are fighting back, students are organizing against ICE, and people are taking on corporations, flooding town halls, and jamming phone lines – proving that we are stronger when united.

The House and Senate still need to reconcile the budget, and committees will decide the final cuts, which means we need to take action right now.

What can we do?

This fight is far from over. Let’s use our voices to shake the halls of power.

In solidarity,

Lucas Zucker and Hazel Davalos

The Santa Barbara County Recreation Master Plan represents a once in a generation opportunity to promote and plan for trail development and to protect and expand the County's trail system.

Please consider sending the following email:

Dear Mr. Lindgren,

As a trail user, I am excited by the potential opportunities for our trail system that are proposed under the Recreation Master Plan. I wish to thank the County for preparing the Recreation Master Plan and am particularly encouraged by the planned expansion of the Orcutt Hills and Orcutt Creek Trail systems, the Guadalupe-Santa Maria River Trail into the dunes and beach, and the Bodger trails in Lompoc. However, I also respectfully request that the County adopt strong policies as part of the Master Plan program that require protection and expansion of our public trail system. I also wish to request that the Master Plan include the planned extension of the Santa Maria Levee Trail and explore new trail opportunities, especially linkages between open lands such as Point Sal Trail and Los Flores Park.
