SBCAN North County Roundtable
May 9, 2024
5:00 pm to 6:30 pm
via Zoom

Agenda

  1. Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary.  Guest speaker, Azsha Hudson, Marine Conservation Analyst & Program Manager, Environmental Defense Center.
  2. Sentinel Peak Resources Truck Rack Project.  SBCAN Board Member Janet Blevins and Co-Executive Director Ken Hough will describe this proposal that would allow oil production in the hills above Lompoc to restart by providing a truck-loading facility. Six tanker trucks would transport crude oil 165 miles every day for up to 50 years to Coalinga. A land use permit was issued by staff and SBCAN has appealed this decision to the Planning Commission.
  3. Pale Blue Dot Amusement Park. Janet and Ken will also discuss a proposal by the City of Lompoc to ask its voters to change the designation of the land including Ken Adam Park to allow commercial use. The suggested, but not required, use is for a space-themed amusement park.
  4. Santa Maria General Plan. Staff will report on the current status of the plan update.
  5. Other matters.
