National Day of Solidarity
Hosted by Indivisible Santa Barbara
Saturday, August 16
Santa Barbara
Join a National Day of Solidarity on August 16th
The success of the Saturday “Tesla Takedown” demonstrations illustrates the impact of strategic non-cooperation. We are redirecting our regular Saturday morning rallies to other businesses that are complicit with the Trump administration, including Whole Foods (owned by Amazon and Jeff Bezos), Chase, Bank of America, and Target.
The rally planned for this coming Saturday is particularly important because it is a National Day of Solidarity to stand in support of Texas Democrats and the fight against the Trump takeover. If you have never participated in the Saturday demonstrations before, this is the time to get involved. Let’s make this one the biggest ever!
Take action: Plan to join us on Saturday August 16 from 10:00am-noon at State and Hitchcock (on the sidewalk in front of Whole Foods, 3761 State St.). We will have signs, or bring your own.
If you want to learn more about One Million Rising, Indivisible National is hosting a series of virtual training sessions for the campaign. The third and final session is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 5:00-6:30pm PT. You can register to attend here. If you missed the first two sessions, you can catch up by listening to the recordings here.
One step in the One Million Rising campaign that Indivisible National is encouraging community members to do is hold small gatherings of friends and neighbors in their own homes to discuss ideas for participation and non-cooperation. Santa Barbara area activists have already scheduled such meetings, and we support those efforts. If you have held a house meeting—or have one planned—please let us know about it! We’d love to hear how the meeting went and coordinate with you as we move forward. Email ISB at [email protected].

Protect Our Checks Rally in Solvang
Hosted by Indivisible Santa Ynez Valley
Saturday, August 16
10am – 12pm PDT
Solvang - Veterans Memorial Hall
1745 Mission Dr
Solvang
We're shifting our approach for Saturday's rally. While we started planning this as a "Protect Our Checks" event focused on Social Security, we're now embracing the broader Fight the Trump Takeover National Day of Action because the threats we're facing are all interconnected.
Here's why this matters: When they rig congressional maps, we lose our power to protect Social Security. When they gut federal agencies, they attack all our rights. When they silence our voices through gerrymandering, they control our future for generations.
In times like these, we can't afford to fight just one battle at a time. We need to use every opportunity to speak up, show up, and stand up for all the values we hold dear.

Power to the People - Lompoc!
Hosted by Indivisible Lompoc
Location
North H Street & East Central Avenue
Lompoc
We're not going to mince words: WE THE PEOPLE ARE PISSED, and it's time to get back into the streets. (And do we have a lot on our minds!)
Social Security turns 90 this week - will it live to see 100? 95? Who knows! They continue to try to privatize it and use our money to line their pockets! Prices are soaring because tariffs are taxes! TACO Trumpflation is here! 661 people have been kidnapped and trafficked from SBC, SLO, & Ventura Counties by the government secret police they call ICE! We still don't have the Epstein files - and the GOP is now complicit and Trump's name has been redacted by the FBI. The cover up is ongoing!! Trump has ordered gerrymandering in TX- right out in the open, because they know they can't win a fair election! The ongoing genocide in Gaza is abhorrent - people are starving before our eyes! Food aid to Gaza NOW! Stop the war, free all hostages! Attacks on our media and universities is enraging - and they're caving to the regime!
Cuts to Medicaid & SNAP so that billionaires can get a tax break!? HANDS OFF OUR SOCIAL SAFETY NET! $1 Billion taxpayer dollars to refurbish a plane he gets to keep for himself? NO KINGS! A $200 MILLION DOLLAR BALLROOM? All while cutting our social safety net? Renaming the Kennedy Center? Seriously? The jobs report sucks, and our economy is circling the drain. WTH!
Enough is enough!
Bottle up that rage and pour it out into the streets - let's GOOO! By showing up in the street, we are showing people in our community how to react to this regime. We are encouraging them to speak up too. Build our numbers - bring your friends and family.
Meet us at the corner of North H Street and Central Avenue.
Bring your voices, bring your rage, and let's DO THIS!
We will have our large library of protest signs available if you're unable to make a sign and want to join us. Please wear comfortable shoes, don't forget your sunblock, wear a sun hat, and bring some water to stay hydrated. We'll have Lompoc Indivisible shirts and hats on site if you're interested in donating to our cause.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
This is a protest on public sidewalks - and we cannot obstruct traffic flow and cannot stand on medians on the street.

| TUESDAY, AUGUST 19 |
Our City Council will meet on Tuesday, August 19, to consider funding $500,000 for our local nonprofit immigrant rights groups. We want to be present there, in force, to insist that they approve this funding and to ensure that this funding ultimately comes from a source other than housing funds. This meeting was originally scheduled for August 12, so please note change of date.
Take action: Meet us for a rally on the De La Guerra Plaza side of Santa Barbara City Hall at 1:00 p.m. on August 19 to urge the City to provide this funding, and to demand that they take strong action to protect our community from ICE assault. Then please join us inside City Council Chambers at 2:00 p.m. to make public comment supporting this action.
Also, call your City Council member to urge them to adopt emergency measures to protect our immigrant neighbors. Our Santa Barbara City Councilmembers are:
