Welcome
Representatives of the Natural Resources Defense Council will present their proposals for Marine Protected Areas off Pt. Sal and Carpinteria. They will explain what an MPA is and why they are asking the California Fish and Game Commission to put these protections in place. Attendees will be invited to ask questions and express concerns or support. The SBCAN Board will consider whether to support the proposals.

Note: We are changing the North County Roundtable to the second Friday each month at noon and making it a Combined Roundtable when topics warrant it. The South County Roundtable will continue to be held the fourth Friday at noon and will also be a Combined Roundtable when topics warrant it.

However, we know it will only be a matter of time before we are impacted here in the Central Coast. We are ready to fight back. Our partners at 805Undocufund are leading the charge, ensuring that hateful policies and actions aimed at tearing our communities apart are met with unwavering resistance.

Here is how you can help build our defense:

Use the Rapid Response Hotline: Call 805-870-8855 to report activity, share information, or ask questions about ICE and CBP actions in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.
Join our Rapid Response Alert System: Sign up to receive real-time alerts when confirmed ICE or CBP activities happen in our region.

This system is stronger when we all step up. Share what you see. Stay informed. If you’re ready to do even more, we need volunteers who are committed to fighting back. Sign up here to join us in defending our communities. And help us spread the word by sharing these infographics far and wide.

We know what to expect this time. We will not stand by while fear is spread and families are torn apart. We will not allow the federal government to strip away our freedoms or dictate the futures of our neighbors.

Ask them to support more arts programming for students, especially through SBCAN's Youth Arts Alive program.

Other ideas: more parks, public art, safer streets, off-street bike paths, bike racks and lockers, artistic bike racks, decorative barriers, bike education and rides, Safe Routes to School, traffic calming measures, fruit trees in parks, shade trees in parking lots ... whatever you can think of to make our community more pleasant, more livable, more resilient.

We’re not asking you to contribute again – unless you want to! Mostly, we hope you will read our 2024 Highlights and continue to be involved with us.

The average amount of dues our members pay is $10/month, however, we welcome higher or lower membership dues – whatever level works for you.
