SBCAN leads community development and education on housing issues through the following pathways.

Housing Brainstorm

SBCAN Co-President Richard “Dick” Flacks, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at UC Santa Barbara, hosts a weekly brainstorming session with housing advocates, local electeds, and government staff to explore and advance housing solutions with a focus on issues affecting the City of Santa Barbara.

State Law Group

A coalition of housing advocates meeting bi-weekly dedicated to tracking statewide housing and land use legislation, assessing potential implications for Santa Barbara County. Through collaboration and analysis, the group develops policy recommendations that support housing affordability and meet the county’s unique housing needs and priorities.

Housing Newsletter

SBCAN is developing a newsletter to inform and mobilize broader segments of the public about housing updates throughout Santa Barbara County.

If you would like to receive updates on this development, sign up for our Action Alerts.

Roundtables

SBCAN’s Roundtables bring together community members, advocates, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss emerging issues impacting Santa Barbara County. These conversations help identify opportunities for collective action and collaboration. While topics vary based on community needs, housing remains a key area of focus.
