Santa Maria Riverkeepers
a new group SBCAN is forming to protect and enhance the Santa Maria River.
We will work on habitat restoration, water quality improvements, solutions to flooding, enhanced public access and advocating for policies that benefit the Santa Maria River watershed.
This winter we will be planting native plants and restoring habitat in several areas where encampments had been located in the Santa Maria riverbed near Magellan and Seaward Drives in Santa Maria.
We are doing this work in partnership with Channel Islands Restoration and the County of Santa Barbara. We need volunteers to help us.
We hope you will join us.
We have two planting days scheduled:
- Saturday, Dec. 14 from 8:30am-1pm
- Saturday, Jan. 4 from 8:30am-1pm
If you are interested in joining us, please sign up at https://forms.gle/n9wj4NiTNTF1fE427
