Recreation Master Plan

The Draft Plan includes the County’s plan to build parks, trails, and recreation facilities to help meet those needs. The Draft Plan proposes capital improvements, programs, funding, and implementation strategies for the unincorporated area over about 20 years. It includes the proposed Recreation Benefit Project (RBP) Program, allowing private developments to contribute to the public recreation system, and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and zoning ordinances.

Project Environmental Impact Report (EIR)

The County has released the Notice of Preparation for a Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the Draft Recreation Master Plan. Agencies and the public are encouraged to provide comments on the scope of the EIR.

The Santa Barbara County Recreation Master Plan represents a once in a generation opportunity to promote and plan for trail development and to protect and expand the County's trail system.

Dear Mr. Lindgren,
 
As a trail user, I am excited by the potential opportunities for our trail system that are proposed under the Recreation Master Plan. I wish to thank the County for preparing the Recreation Master Plan and am particularly encouraged by the planned expansion of the Orcutt Hills and Orcutt Creek Trail systems, the Guadalupe-Santa Maria River Trail into the dunes and beach, and the Bodger trails in Lompoc. However, I also respectfully request that the County adopt strong policies as part of the Master Plan program that require protection and expansion of our public trail system. I also wish to request that the Master Plan include the planned extension of the Santa Maria Levee Trail and explore new trail opportunities, especially linkages between open lands such as Point Sal Trail and Los Flores Park.

Thanks to a grant from the City of Goleta and our wonderful speaker Susan Jones with Creative Behavior Systems, you have the opportunity to discover your nonprofit organization’s potential to efficiently serve its constituency.

This workshop is specifically catered to nonprofit organizations who serve our low-income and houseless population residing in Goleta. 

Susan Jones was among the first to provide Trauma-Informed Workshops in the nation. She worked directly with Jane Stevens who is the author of the ACEs study and was a part of Dr. Nadine Burke's early focus groups. She began providing workshops to school districts with high rates of low-income students. Today, she works across the country helping school districts, businesses, city governments and more be more effective for those they serve.
