Celebrating a Big Win Against Renoviction!

Santa Barbara City Council April 22 Recap

Organizations such as SBCAN, the Santa Barbara Tenants Union and CAUSE provided public comment and rallied up community members and tenants in danger of renoviction to express their support in passing stronger tenant protections. After continued participation in numerous City Council meetings, SBCAN and allies celebrate a big win.

The Santa Barbara City Council voted 4-2 in favor of passing a stronger eviction ordinance by adding a 10 percent rent increase cap for tenants facing displacement as a result of renovations and other provisions aimed at decreasing occurrences in renovictions.
