SBCAN’s current efforts through the Vecinos del Eastside network focus on building community power and supporting solutions shaped by Eastside residents and businesses. Current efforts include:
- Gathering community input from Eastside residents and business owners on how newly acquired funds for the Eastside can best support local priorities and community needs.
- Growing the network by connecting with more Eastside residents, business owners, and community members who want to participate in shaping the future of the neighborhood.
- Celebrating and elevating the Eastside’s cultural identity by highlighting the people, businesses, traditions, and stories that make the neighborhood unique.
- Supporting a thriving Eastside community by advancing efforts that help local families remain in the neighborhood, prevent displacement, and ensure that the people who have shaped the Eastside’s cultural identity can continue to call it home.
- Increasing visibility for Milpas Street businesses by building new and strategic partnerships and promoting local businesses through community networks, social media, tourism networks, and outreach to Santa Barbara residents.
