Message from Green Team Project Director Leo Espinoza:

If you're an individual or you're a gardening team or are just interested in starting your own garden come on out to the community garden and have some fun. We'll have vegetable plants to give away.

Join the movement. Gardening is the new skateboarding -- like a hobby, sport or therapy.

Mark your calendar to come to the garden the last Sunday of each month. That is our regular gardening day.

    Hope to see you Sunday!

    It's official.

Leo Espinoza is the new project director of the Central Coast Green Team, and he has some ideas for taking it to the next level.

    Yay! Thank you, Leo!

Leo would love to see you this Sunday, July 26 at 10 a.m. as he starts the fun day with an icebreaker to get to know each other.

Then he'll show everyone around the community garden to see what the area is about and why we have a local community garden.

Next we will do a bit of cleaning up and weeding, followed by seedling planting where there is room.

We'll tie up our grapes, and regular team members will vote on whether to connect the front trellis with the back using a small, heavy duty cable Leo obtained.

"I've seen giant grape plants bigger than trees, with one plant covering an entire front yard in Solvang," Leo said. "We can use some opinions on our giant grape plants. Anyone with knowledge please feel free to stop by."

Come and get some free seedlings, too, so you can go home and begin your own Urban Gardener's experience.

We hope to see you Sunday. Please let Leo know if you can help by calling 805.349.1969 or email him at [email protected]. If you're not sure ahead of time, just stop on by!
